About this work
Description
The indexed letter books contain Horton's outgoing correspondence from October 1894 to July 1895. His correspondents include doctors and chemists (to whom Horton would send samples of Wyeth products and who would then order preparations from Horton); travelling salesman (selling preparations to doctors and chemists and reporting back to Horton) and also the Wyeth & Brother office in Philadelphia (reporting back on sales in the UK; placing orders for more Wyeth's products to be shipped to him). Understandably, these are the lengthiest (and arguably, most interesting) letters, and include details on the death of S. M. Burroughs and also Horton's impressions of advertising in London).
The letter books offer insights into Horton's sales methods and illustrate not only his network of salesmen but also the medical practitioners with whom he did business.
