About us

Photograph of the front elevation of the Wellcome Collection building at dusk. The building is illuminated with a series of up-lighters, flooding the facade with green light. In the foreground at ground level are blurred streaks of red and yellow from the headlights and tail lights of passing vehicles. The leaves of trees to the left and right of the image frame the building and are themselves blurred as a result of the wind and long photographic exposure.

Wellcome Collection is a free museum and library that aims to challenge how we all think and feel about health.

Through exhibitions, collections, live programming, digital, broadcast and publishing, we create opportunities for people to think deeply about the connections between science, medicine, life and art.

We are part of Wellcome, which supports science to solve the urgent health challenges facing everyone. Wellcome supports discovery research into life, health and wellbeing, and is taking on three worldwide health challenges: mental health, infectious disease and climate.

On our tenth anniversary in 2017, we embarked on a period of reflection and review. We created a document that sets out a mission for Wellcome Collection as a museum and library, our main objectives for the next five years, and how we are organised to achieve them.
