This group of material has been artificially brought together from several different sources and offers a brief glimpse of Dale's career.

1906-1968

Henry Hallet Dale joined Burroughs Wellcome & Co. in 1904 and became director of the Wellcome Physiological Research Laboratories in 1906 on the departure of Dr Dowson. He resigned in 1913. From 1938 to 1960 he was Chairman of the Wellcome Trust.

At Wellcome Collection: PP/HHD also holds 1 box of Dale papers, including Experimental Notebooks.

GC/67 Copy documents collected by Sir Henry Dale c.1959 relating to the controversy over the responsibility for the discovery of insulin in Toronto in 1922.

Correspondence by Dale can be found in a number of other collections held by Wellcome Collection, notably correspondence with Henry Wellcome in the WA Collection, but also elsewhere with other scientists.
