    A.D. 1763 .N° 791. Medicine. FORDYCE’S SPECIFICATION. TO ALL TO WHOM THESE PRESENTS SHALL COME, I, William Fordyce, of the Parish of Saint James, Westminster, in the County of Middlesex, Surgeon, send greeting. WHEREAS, by certain Letters Patent under the Great Seal of Great 5 Britain, bearing date at Westminster, the Twenty-ninth day of July last, reciting that I, the said William Fordyce, had, by my Petition, humbly represented unto His Majesty that, by much labour, study, and application in trying experi¬ ments, I had found out and invented “A New Medicinal Composition, called the Stomach Pill, whose Power far exceeds that of any Medicine hitherto 10 DISCOVERED IN CURING ALL DISORDERS OF THE STOMACH AND BOWELLS, WHERE there is a Deficiency of Bile and no Inflamation and that in regard that I had been at great trouble and expence in bringing the same to perfection, I had prayed His said Majesty would be pleased to grant unto me, my execu¬ tors, administrators, and assigns, His said Majesty’s Royal Letters Patent, 15 under the Great Seal of Great Britain, for the sole use and benefit of my said Invention, within that part of Great Britain called England, the Dominion of Wales, and Town of Berwick-upon-Tweed, and also in His Majestie’s Planta¬ tions and Colonies abroad, for the term of fourteen years, pursuant to the Statute in that case made and provided; His Majesty did therefore, of His 20 especial grace, give and grant unto me, the said William Fordyce, my execu¬ tors, administrators, and assigns, licence, full power, sole priviledge and authority, that I, my exors, adfriors, and assigns, and every of them, by
