Biographical note
The British Society of Gastroenterology (BSG) was founded by Sir Arthur Hurst in 1937; it is a professional organisation of specialists in gastroenterology and exists for the promotion of academic and educational activities within the discipline.
Avery Jones was President of the Society from 1965-1966 and maintained a strong connection with it throughout his lifetime.
