The author was a celebrated naturalist, biologist and philosopher of his time. He was born at Geneva, and was an Associate Member of the Académie des Sciences, Paris, and elected F.R.S. in 1743.

There are two separate pieces here. Moorat says both are holographs of Bonnet, but they appear to be in different hands.
