Biographical note
Population Studies was first published in 1947 as the first English language journal exclusively concerned with demography. It has been continually produced by the Population Investigation Committee since it was established. The Journal's coverage of demography is comprehensive and has included historical and contemporary studies, quantitative and qualitative studies, analytical essays and reviews. Whilst the PIC was actively involved in research, the Journal included the results through reports and articles. Each volume contains details of the Editorial Board, and notes for authors.
Since Volume 57, 2003, the Journal has been published and distributed by Routledge Journals/Taylor and Francis Ltd. The editors retain complete editorial control. Prior to this the Journal had been published, marketed and distributed independently by the PIC through the Cambridge University Press.
