    Mennons Aperient Biscuit. SPECIFICATION in pursuance of tlie conditions of the Letters Patent, filed by the said Marc Antoine Frangois Mennons in the Great Seal Patent Office on the 2nd November 1858. TO ALL TO WHOM THESE PRESENTS SHALL COME, I, Marc Antoine Francois Mennons, of the British and Foreign Patent Offices, 5 39, Rue de l’Echiquier, Paris, in the Empire of France, send greeting. WHEREAS Her most Excellent Majesty Queen Victoria, by Her Letters Patent, bearing date the Twenty-eighth day of May, in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and fifty-eight, in the twenty-first year of Her reign, did, for Herself, Her heirs and successors, give and grant unto me, the 10 said Marc Antoine Frangois Mennons, Her special licence that I, the said Marc Antoine Frangois Mennons, my executors, administrators, and assigns, or such others as I, the said Marc Antoine Frangois Mennons, my executors, administrators, and assigns, should at any time agree with, and no others, from time to time and at all times thereafter during the term therein 15 expressed, should and lawfully might make, use, exercise, and vend, within the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, the Channel Islands, and Isle of Man, an Invention for “ Ax Aperient Biscuit,” (a communication,) upon the condition (amongst others) that I, the said Marc Antoine Frangois Mennons, my executors or administrators, by an instrument in writing under 20 my, or their, or one of their hands and seals, should particularly describe and ascertain the nature of the said Invention, and in what manner the same was to be performed, and cause the same to be filed in the Great Seal Patent Office within six calendar months next and immediately after the date of the said Letters Patent. 25 NOW KNOW YE, that I, the said Marc Antoine Frangois Mennons, do hereby declare the nature of the said Invention, and in what manner the same is to be performed, to be particularly described and ascertained in and by the following statement, that is to say:— « The Invention communicated to me consists in the preparation of a cake or 30 biscuit containing an aperient medicine, to which it serves as vehicle. Among the aperients susceptible of this application, the resin known as “ Aleppo scammony ” is most generally advantageous, and may be adopted as the standard in the processes hereafter enumerated.
