Higgs, Esq. 1 . 0 Meetings of the Agricultural and Engineering and Special Sub- Committees have been held as occasion required. 6. —Deputations from Boards of Guardians of a number of the Unions within the County, as well as from the Worcester Board, have visited the Asylum during the year. The Reports made by these Deputations to their respective Boards express their appreciation of the care and attention which the Patients from their Unions receive ar the Asylum, and with its general management and superintendence. 7. —It was found necessary again to raise the weekly charge for the maintainence of Pauper Patients in the Asylum (which it will be remembered was from the 1st April, 1890, raised to 7s. 7d. per head) as from the 1st April last to 8s. 2d. per head. This course had to be adopted owing to the further increase which had taken place in the price of coal, provisions, and other commodities supplied to the Asylum. 8. —Two of the Commissioners in Lunacy visited the Asylum in the month of February last and a copy of their Report is appended (Schedule 2). It may be observed that the question of the overcrowding of the Asylum referred to by the Commissioners had already been met by the steps which had been taken and authorised for the extension of the Asylum Buildings. 9. —With reference to the two important matters which were dealt with in our last Report, viz. :—(a) The accommoda¬ tion to be provided for the increasing number of patients in the Asylum, (b) The water supply—the Councils of the County and City have already sanctioned the erection of the additional buildings for the accommodation of 140 male patients at the east end of the Annexe, which buildings are now in course of construction; your Committee trust that they may
