"As Secretary of the Company I am of course bound to carry into effect the instructions of my Board, but as a Director of the Company I think it is my duty to state that, in my personal judgement, the compromise you proposed to Sir Richard Cooper last week would, if adopted, secure an inadequate shareholding for our Company and would be difficult to justify to our shareholders" (pp. 1-2).
