    AYLESBUEY UEBAN SANITAEY AUTHOEITY. THE FIFTEENTH ANNUAL REPORT OF THE MEDICAL OFFICER OF HEALTH. Estimated population, 9,420. During the year there have been registered— Annual Rate per M. F. There were— 14 deaths in Infirmary, 12 extra-parochial. 11 „ „ Union House, 6 ,, „ Sudden deaths 2 Of strangers 2 „ „ 27 20 The births are 4 less than last year, 37’9 less than average of previous ten years, and the lowest return since 1881, notwithstanding the increase of population. The deaths are one less than last year, and 24-2 less than average of previous ten years, and also the lowest record since 1881 (when 116 were registered), and lower than that year, when the increase of population is considered. A low birth- rate tends to make a low death-rate, as infant mortality exceeds that of any other period of life. I append tables of births and deaths for this and previous ten years. In this table the extra-parochial deaths are deducted, thus showing the corrected death-rate; all those that follow are calculated from the gross death-rate, as returned by the registrar:— Per 1,000.
