Description

An anonymous woodblock printed work on various ointments and treatments for external lesions written in hiragana-majiri with extensive furigana. The first edition titled (Shinkan kokon) Geka chōhōki [新刊古今外科重宝], was published in 1746 but this new edition was published in 1785 in Osaka; there were also later impressions in 1805 and 1806. The figures in the illustrations are Chinese in appearance and much attention is given in the first half of the book to identifying and naming the parts of the body.
