Description

Photograph of the superior aspect of a skull from Cuzco, Peru showing marks of trephinning. The skull is part of the Muniz Collection, collected by Manuel Antonion Muniz, Surgeon-General of the Army of Peru. After he was exiled in 1893 he deposited the skulls with the Bureau of American Ethnology. The photograph was reproduced in Muniz, Manuel Antonio: "Primitive Trephining in Peru", extract from the Sixteenth Annual Report of the Bureau of American Ethnology, Washington: Govt. Print. Off, 1897, plate XXXVII. Related images: M0006134, M0006135, M0006136, M0006137.
