Doctors' hobbies exhibition 1957.

An uplifting sponsored film showing an exhibition of doctors' hobbies held at The Royal Society of Health, London. Mr Basil D. Thornton, chief executive and managing director of Benger, gives a press conference at the opening of the exhibition. Doctors' hobbies turn out to be varied including many paintings both traditional and even abstract, carvings and a battleship made out of match sticks. The film is set to jaunty music with a rather silly voice-over. Examples of doctors and their hobbies cited in the film are; Dr Samuel Walport who made his very own 8ft Newtonian telescope and Dr Vera Claxton who made old nylon stockings into flowers; a display shows her skill. There are hand-crafted violins and model railways. Finally there are 17 awards given for originality, perservance, skill and aesthetics. The end credits are over night shots of the neon lights around Piccadilly Circus, London.
