EEPliINTED FKOM THE “ KENTISH GAZETTE.” The usual monthly meeting of the above Society was held in the Library of the Working Men’s Institute, Can- terbury, on Tuesday evening last, when G. Gulliver, Esq., F. R.S., delivered a very interesting and instructive lecture on “ Cell-biography, in relation to Systematic Botany.” Colonel Horsley presided, and there were also present Colonel Cox and family, Rev. W. Blissard, J S. Lipscomb, G. Rigden, A. B. Andrews and S. Harvey, Esqrs., and many lady friends and patrons. The Chairman congratulated the Society upon the ac- quisition of Dr. Gulliver as a member, and expressed the gratitude they must feel at that gentleman’s kindness in coming forward to instruct them on the present occasion.
