    EXPERIMENT THE THIRD. A solution of Pruflian lime, em¬ ployed in the fame way, changed them both to a light blue, of no apparent dif¬ ference. EXPERIMENT THE FOURTH. Infusion of litmus was equally and almoft inftantly changed, by both, to a light red or garnet colour. EXPERIMENT THE FIFTH. With fyrup of violets no fenlible alteration could be perceived at firft; but, on leaving them to ftand fome time, the blue colour of the violet was altered to a green. /
