In the foreground is the Flaminian obelisk from Egypt, around which is a barrier of bollards, which protected the obelisk before their replacement by Valadier with stone lions. The obelisk casts a shadow to the west, indicating morning. Numerous coaches wait with pairs, and groups of people converse
