    of the WATERS of SPA, 357 Over the fountain of Pouhon are engraven the following lines, expreflive of its virtues : ObflruBum refer at, durum terit> humida ficcat, 'Debile fortificat, ft tamen Arte bibis. It is very obfervable of this, as well as of the Pyrmont water, that their good effe£ts are fre¬ quently not found, ’till a confiderable time after drinking them. This water kills worms, frogs, iQbfters, and fmall fillies; and effedtually kills and expels worms, and all forts of infetts in the human body, even by urine. Externally. It cures difeafes of the tonfils from relaxation, by gargling, helps loofe teeth and pendulous breads, ozenae, and all phagsedenic and dyfepu- lotic ulcers; inje&ed into the urethra, it cicatrizes ulcers, and by its repelling virtue, prevents the regeneration of caruncles there. It helps the fluor albus, not only by drinking, but by injection; and greatly relieves ulcers of the womb, by its deterging,, drying, and cica¬ trizing quality: it alfo helps a fcirrhus and cancer of the womb, by injection.—-It helps the fimple gonorrhoea, by drinking, injecting, and bathing; and fortifies the parts of generation, weakened by gonorrhoeas.—It is ferviceable in venereal aph¬ thae, and ulcers in the mouth and tongue, and elfe- where, when the ulcers are hard to dry, (the virus being firft taken away) being ufed by drinking, injection, and fomentation.
