About this work

Description

David Bellamy presents a forceful case for the use of animals in medical laboratory testing. Himself an animal lover, he argues against his own immediate instincts, persuaded by the range of benefits to humans - and to animals, in the development of veterinary science - which have resulted from such tests. He stresses the welfare controls exercised over the use of animals in laboratories, looks forward to the increase of in vitro tests, but maintains that it will always be essential to use animals for some procedures.
