The firfl, and what is called the Autumn courfe, is finiflied before New-years-day; and the fecond, called the Spring courfe, begins about the 20th of January. Mr. Galhie, of Spital-fquarc, furgeon, the gentleman abovementloned,. in the account he gives me under his hand, fays ; “ Having made no memorandum of the Tejiis, in which your brother “ had filed the internal tubes with mercury, I cannot be pofitive as to “ the precife time it appeared at leftiires ; I remember, indeed, that the preparation was made a few weeks after you had injedled the firf; Tejiis; and, as it was fliewn to the pupils the fame evening it “ was finiflied, it muft 'without doubt have been publicly demonftrated “ fometime in the autumn courfe, 1752. Spital-fquare, R. GalhiE.”' Nov. 24, 175B. Mr. Watfon, of Marlborough-flreet, furgeon and reader of anatomy J-, has given the following account of the matter. “ In the beginning of the Autumn courfe of the year 1752, Dr. “ Hunter got a Teftis^ filled it, and Ihiewed it at public ledure. In “ this preparation, the whole Epididymis^ and the duds between it “ and the body of the 'Teftis were all difiended with mercury ; and, al- “ though the mercury had palled very probably into the body of the “ Teftis^i yet the Dr. did not care to run any hazard of fpoiling fo fine “ a preparation to demonftrate this circumfiance. I cannot charge my “ memory with the exad time ; but I very well recoiled, that it was “ but a few days after when I faw the whole Epididymis^ the communi- “ eating Tubuli, and the I'ubuli in the body of the Teftis^ finely filled “ with mercury. I remember perfedly well, that I firfi faw this fecond “ preparation * Let me once for all do juflice to the charader of every gentleman, who has done me the favour of giving his evidence in this difpute, by declaring, that none of them were ofHcious witnclfes-, and that none of them meant to take part with either fide, but to fay •f. hat they knew to be truth, when application was made to them for that purpofe. ■f I take the opportunity with pleafure of doing this gentleman the fame juftice, that I did him at my ledures with regard to his obfervations upon the TejTn, by declaring that he firlt Ihcwcd me the duds coming out from the Tejiis to form the Epidi/lymisy in a preparation A\ here he had traced them by difledion with great accuracy.
