In the background are three shops: "La Presle dentiste", with three big models of teeth displayed over the door; Bozeau fils, tapissier"; and a fishmonger with "Huitres" and paintings of crabs painted on the building
Left, on the side of a water pump (?), posters have been pasted: they advertise "L'Eclair diligence, Paris"; "19 Rue du Coq ... Maladie"; "Bal de nuit"; "Vente vente vente vente vente vente"; "Diner 20s Guillaume restaurateur Palais Royal"; "Théâtre Feydeau. ... Joconde ... Le calife de Bagdad"; "Théâtre des variétés. Relache. Demain: Les habitans de Landes. Deux boxeurs. Monsieur Cred...". 'Joconde, ou Les coureurs d'aventure', an opéra comique in three acts with libretto by Charles-Guillaume Etienne and music by Nicolas Isouard was produced at the Théâtre Feydeau in Paris on Feb. 28, 1814. 'Le calife de Bagdad', an opéra comique in one act by François-Adrien Boieldieu with libretto by Claude de Saint-Just, was first produced at the Opéra Comique in 1800. 'Les habitants des Landes' was a play by Charles-Augustin Bassompierre, called Sewrin, which was first performed at the Théâtre des Variétés in 1811
