    TRANSLATOR’S PREFACE The growth of radiotherapy is so phénoménal, and its future is so full of promise, that any new light on the subject is eagerly welcomed. I am therefore pleased to présent Dr. Belofs well-known work to English readers. It has been most favourably received on the Continent, and has already reached a second édition. Both as a physician and an electrician, Dr. Belot is an acknow- ledged expert. I am fortunate in having his cordial co-operation in the production of this translation, and can only regret that the clearness and grâce of the original are so unworthily reproduced in an English dress. \F.
