About this work

Description

The hospital was founded in 1915 by Dr Isabel Kerr, who from 1921 launched "a pioneering program of treatment for leprosy following the discovery of the effectiveness of injections of hyndocarpus [i.e. hydnocarpus] oil by Edwin Muir and Leonard Rogers" (website of Undiscovered Scotland, accessed 15 April 2010). There is an obituary of her (without portrait) in The lancet, 31 December 1932, pp. 1460-1461
