About this work

Description

One of a series of compilations of amateur footage taken by Dr. Bolton in the 1930s when he was at the Peckham Pioneer Health Centre, London. The notes are a combination of the, sometimes undecipherable, handwritten boxes and the WFSA who viewed the material with Dr Bolton's widow. This compilation features a child in the clinic (name is on the original film box) Jan '36; very dark and under exposed film, Peckham Health Centre (PHC) diving group Feb '36., PHC Deptford 'Research' London shots and gliding straight flight to camera (?), Nursery 1937 (a girl and boy of about 5 or 6 argue over a puzzle, then shots of children on two-wheeled scooters outside and nude toddlers in the gymnasium), PHC Engine room, diving and swimming, Exterior nursery (same shots as PPHC compilation 1), construction work at PHC, fair-haired toddler playing in a well kept garden with his mother present (possibly family material), dog, then a cat eating from a dish. An envelope is opened; it contains a cheque for £25,000 made payable to the Pioneer Health Centre from Barclays Bank. More diving, a male patient (very dark footage, unrecognisable).
