This short extract shows Mr. Munden, a right below-elbow amputee demonstrating a Russian-type myo-electric prosthesis. (Ian Fletcher, Former Senior Medical Officer at the Limb Fitting Centre in Roehampton states that Munden was good at demonstrating the prosthesis but rarely wore it). The 'below-elbow' prosthesis was developed by the Russians in the early 1960s, based on a more cumbersome British arm prosthesis. In the film we see Munden writing, lighting a cigarette and pouring himself a drink. Then the prosthesis is removed and another man indicates visually how it fits onto Munden's stump and how the batteries operate the prosthesis. Finally Munden waves goodbye to the camera using his prosthetic arm.
