About this work
Description
An account of research into ways of helping people who suffer from recurrent, terrifying "night terrors". These erupt from a much deeper level of sleep than nightmares and can involve an abrupt shift from deep sleep to sleepwalking, with the danger of injury. The film examines the history of three such patients who are co-operating with researchers at St. George's Hospital, London and The Priory Hospital, London. They have all suffered from sleep disruption by night terrors for about 20 years, and found little attempt by the medical profession to understand this condition. The patients are shown experiencing night terrors and undergoing forms of treatment.
