Description

Describes the problems encountered in pioneering surgery on human foetuses sufering from life-threatening conditions in the U.S., Mexico and France. With less than a 50% success rate, should this work continue? The possibility of correcting limb defects in utero is discussed with a British plastic surgeon and there is a report from Stockholm on the use of stem cells from aborted foetuses for thalassaemia treatment. Considers the ethical problems arising from these procedures.
