    Provisional Hobbes Freparation for the Treatment of Foot and Mouth Disease. as “ foot & mouth disease ” to which animals of the bovine, ovine, and porcine classes are specially subject. It consists in the employment of what the Inventor calls a plienicated sulpho-tannate of iron and copper composed of the following in¬ gredientsSulphate of iron, phenic acid, sulphate of copper, and gall 5 nuts. These ingredients are made into a lotion which is applied by means of a hair pencil to the part affected after the removal of the cuticle there¬ from ; by these means a cure is usually effected in a few hours. SPECIFICATION in pursuance of the conditions of the Letters Patent 10 filed by the said George Robbe in the Great Seal Patent Office on the 5tli April 1873. TO ALL TO WHOM THESE PRESENTS SHALL COME, I, George Robbe, of No. 152, Penchurch Street, in the City of London, Merchant, send greeting. 15 WHEREAS Her most Excellent Majesty Queen Victoria, by Her Letters Patent, bearing date the Eifth day of October, in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and seventy-two, in the thirty-sixth year of Her reign, did, for Herself, Her heirs and successors, give and grant unto me, the said George Robbe, Her special licence that I, the 20 said George Robbe, my executors, administrators, and assigns, or such others as I, the said George Robbe, my executors, administrators, or assigns, should at any time agree with, and no others, from time to time and at all times thereafter during the term therein expressed, should and lawfully might make, use, exercise, and vend, within the 25 United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, the Channel Islands, and Isle of Man, an Invention for “ A Medical Preparation applicable to the Treatment of wha.t is known as £ Foot and Mouth ’ Disease in Cattle/’ a communicetion to me from abroad by Jean Michel Brunet, residing at Dieppe, in the Republic of Erance, upon the condition (amongst others) 30 that I, the said George Robbe, my executors or administrators, by an instrument in writing under my, or their, or one of their hands and seals, should particularly describe and ascertain the nature of the said Invention, and in what manner the same was to be performed, and
