Lettering

Taking a culture from the brain for sterility test. A median dorsal incision has been made from the root of the nose to the root of the tail, the skin reflected, and the exposed tissues swabbed with 10 per cent carbolic acid solution. The cranium has been separated from the spinal column by a transverse incision between the atlas and occipital bone, thus exposing the lower end of the medulla. After taking a culture, the vault of the skull is removed to expose the brain
