Description

The Cross-Wall Ode: ode to be perform'd at The Cross Wall on the 1st of April being the anniversary of All-Fools; The poetry by Doctor S-. The notes by Dr. F-. A lampoon aimed at William S-, a recently-arrived or newly-qualified medical man in Dover, by his 'rivals' in the town. These surgeons, apothecaries and man-midwives are occasionally named: they include Edward Broderip F.L.S.; George Folkes; George Hannam; Francis Thatcher; and Thomas Mantell (1751-1831) F.S.A., who later became Mayor of Dover.
