Description
Princess Elizabeth, known as Madame Élisabeth, was the youngest sibling of King Louis XVI. She remained loyal to her brother during the Revolution and was imprisoned with the royal family. Following the execution of the king and queen in 1793, Elisabeth was taken to the Conciergerie prison, a part of the Palais Royal from which prisoners during the French Revolution were taken to be executed by the guillotine. She was guillotined with 23 other men and women on 10 May 1794
One of the men manhandling her wears the Jacobin cap (Phrygian bonnet, cap of liberty etc.)
