About this work

Description

Core particle of the bluetongue virus (BTV) showing the inner and outer core proteins, coloured to highlight the flexibiliy of proteins in the structure. Blue protein regions are least flexible and yellow regionsare the most flexible. The double-stranded RNA genome normally resides inside the core but it is not shown here. Bluetongue is a disease of ruminants and the virus is transmitted by insect vectors. It belongs to the family Reoviridae and the genus Orbivirus
