The programme examines the life and work of Dr Thomas Addison, physician to Guy's Hospital, London. Dr Addison was perplexed about a strange wasting disease that made young men and women weak and changed their skin pigmentation to yellow or deep brown. They eventually died from it. Bob Knight, former Consultant Physician at Guy's and Professor Michael Besser at St Bartholomew's Hospital, and a world expert on endocrinology, talk about Addison's discovery.
