Roll C - Diseases. The following contents list and description is taken from the Institute of Neurology cinefilm catalogue. "Wilson's disease: Five cases of Wilson's disease (hepato-lenticular degeneration) with a wide range of involuntary movements, tremor, incoordination, and difficulty in walking have been assembled by Dr. David Marsden. The duration of the illness ranged from 2 to 9 years (6 min.) / Wilson's disease: The film shows violent tremor in a man with Wilson's disease of two years' duration. The dramatic response to penicillamine is well illustrated (3.5 min.) / An unusual disorder of copper metabolism: The patient developed at the age of 12 years clinical features resembling Wilson's disease with tremor, choreiform movements, incontinence and mental deterioration. However, he had no Kayser-Fleischer rings. Biochemical studies showed low concentration of copper in plasma, urine an dliver with accumulation in the lower bowel. The film illustrates teh clinical features of gait and involuntary movements. The case was published in Journal of Neurological Science 1978:39, pp. 85-98 (6 min.) / Hyperoricacidaemia: A boy of 11 years with hyperuricacidaemia developed violent involuntary movements at the age of 2 and by age 3 had begun to bite and otherwise mutilate himself. Thalamotomy produced little benefit as teh film shows (4 min.) / Gilles de la Tourette: The film shows clips of four patients depicting whole-body movements, facial grimaces and movements of the head and neck (6 min.) / Friedreich's ataxia: A short clip of a girl with Friedreich's Ataxia showing her gait, ataxia in the finger-nose test and difficulty holding a glass (3 min.) / Myxoedema: The gait and stance of two patients with cerebellar ataxia from myxoedema are shown together with prolonged ankle jerks (2 min.) / Pulsating exophthalmos: A short clip illustration pulsating exophthalmos in a woman with neurofibromatosis with a defect in the roof of the orbit (1 min.) / Mercury poisoning: The film shows a man of 33 years whose work was to fill thermometers. He kept his sandwiches in his apron pocket and inadvertently consumed quantities of mercury (3 min.) / Subacute sclerosing panencephalitis: Two patients are shown with regular myoclonic jerks of limbs and eyes (2 min.) / Creutzfeld-Jacob disease: The film shows increase of tone and reflexes and pout, sucking and grasp reflexes in two patients (6 min.) / Trismus in a patient with tetanus: A short clip showing mild trismus in a man with tetanus (1 min.)"
