Description
The man (Devil) is pointing with his left forefinger to his cloven foot and is also portrayed by the artist as doing so. Other paintings in the artist's studio show a fight between nude men and a landscape with a tree
The artist dreams that he is painting a man who is revealed as the devil. The devil gives him to understand that the painter is being deceived by his wife, but in reality he is not, as the painter discovers when he awakes
