About this work

Description

The first in a two-part series in which Stephen Fry explores the realms of bipolar disorder (manic depression). He describes the impact manic depression has had on his life and we hear from other people suffering from the condition. Professor Steve Williams scans Fry's brain and Nick Craddock from Cardiff University who is conducting the UK's biggest study to date into bipolarity tests his DNA. Fry wonders how his life might have been had he been diagnosed earlier and had he taken medication. Various people working in the areas of mental health and psychiatry contribute to the programme including Ian Jones a doctor specialising in helping bipolar women through pregnancy and motherhood. We also hear from a variety of celebrity and non-celebrity figures who have all experienced manic depression in their lives.
