Description

The documentary talks to various sets of identical twins. First, a set of newborn identical twin sisters, Emma and Evie, are introduced, whose growth are followed throughout the programme. A comprehensive school in Somerset is visited, which has famously enrolled a large proportion of twin pupils. Olympic rowers Pippa and Jo Cook, talk about their physical similarities and differences. Priests Jennifer and Yvonne Thomas, talk about how they came to take the same career path. Anais Bourdier and Samantha Futerman, who were separated at birth and separately adopted, recount first discovering they were a twins. Dancers Guillherme and Vitor Menezes, talk about their physical similarities. Musicians and physically mirrored identical twin sisters, Christine and Louise Miller, talk about their strong emotional connection. 14-month-old mirrored identical twin brothers are introduced, one of whom has situs inversus due to the embryo splitting very late. Mother of Malcolm and Andrew Chapman recalls an event in which Andrew alerted his parents to his brother struggling to breathe whilst sleeping. Tim Brown recounts receiving a kidney transplant from his identical twin brother, James Brown. The programme then explores why the fingerprints of twins are different. An experiment involving a Medical Detection Dog ensues, in which the dog tries to seek out twins Emma and Evie’s DNA from a group of different samples. Brenda Bauers recalls her emotional response to her identical twin sister Bonnie coming out as gay and transitioning to a male. Aiden Bauers talks about his experiences becoming a transgender male, and the siblings discuss how these events affected their relationship. Next, the programme explores how differences, physical and emotional, multiply as identical twins age. Retired holiday camp entertainers and live DJs, Peter and Paul Kingston, discuss companionship and sharing a house together.
