Lettering

Sir William MacCormac, Senior Surgeon of St.Thomas' Hospital, London, at the request of Prof. Lewis A. Sayre, gave a clinical lecture in the amphitheatre of Bellevue Hospital, on the 30th of September, 1891, and performed an exsection of a diseased elbow joint. The above photograph was made as Sir William was about to commence the operation. Inscription in pen and ink on back of mount of item catalogued: "Mr Arthur E. Durham F.R.C.S. from his friend Lewis A. Sayre 1891."
