According to P.H. Falk, Who was who in American art, Madison, Conn., 1985, Diana Thorne was born in Winnipeg, Canada, on 7 October 1895, and studied with William Strang (in England?). She wrote and illustrated many books about animals (for children?), and lived in New York City
