About this work

Description

Documentary following the lives of three children undergoing cutting edge treatments for cancer. Chloe is three and has a neuroblastoma which has spread to her bones as well. Neuroblastoma is one of the most deadly children's cancers. Sophie is twelve and has been battling leukemia since she was two - her cancer has returned so many times that she is now left with only two options: treatments for pain or a new treatment called immunotherapy. Chloe will receive the same treatment after she has undergone surgery to remove her primary tumour. Fabian is eleven and has been fighting leukemia all his life, like Sophie. His sister has donated some of her bone marrow to him. Her T cells will be modified to try to attack his cancer cells; 52 million cells. We follow the children and their families through these treatments which are all potentially dangerous in themselves but are the last hope the children have. Particularly touching are the responses of their siblings and it becomes clear that a serious illness is a maturing experience for them as well.
