About this work
Description
Here Nick Hancock takes a light-hearted look at the 4000 year history of contraception, beginning with the earliest known methods of contraception in Ancient Egypt which included methods such as inserting a combination of crocodile dung and sour asses milk into the vagina, coitus interruptus, long-term breastfeeding and a form of morning after pill which consisted largely of mandrake. We then trace the trajectory of birth control methods to the present day. All sections are illustrated with an excellent range of archive footage and accounts by historians.
