About this work

Description

Ruth Selwyn, the producer and director of the programme, makes contact with an old schoolfriend Helen, who has developed, what appears to be, Dissociated Personality Disorder (Multiple Personality Disorder). Under the influence of these multiple personalities, Helen has become intoxicated, although she says she does not drink alchohol, and has overdosed and self-harmed with a knife. Ruth undertakes the task of trying to understand what has caused Helen's personality to have developed in this way, was it, as she herself believes, the result of horrific satanic sexual abuse, which her memory has surpressed, or is this behaviour no more than a "theatrical artifact", as suggested by psychologist, Dr Ray Aldridge-Morris.
