About this work
Description
Frances Cairncross asks if we still need psychoanalysis? Is Freud still relevant? Raj Persaud says Freud has hugely complicated what is really rather simple, and is thus profoundly unhelpful. Roger Scruton criticizes Freud for peddling ersatz religion and bad science. Advances in neuroscience and genetics offer an alternative explanation of human behaviour. They discuss Freud's emphasis on childhood sexuality. Susan Greenfield defends Freud for giving a way of approaching the unconscious, and emotions which cannot be measured.
