Description
The last in an 8-part series investigating diseases from around the globe. Each programme features a single disease and looks at attempts to develop treatments that are effective and affordable to the world's poor who make up the majority of the victims. This part features polio and in particular the work of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative which aims to wipe polio from the face of the planet. As polio can be successfully vaccinated against it is possible to eradicate the virus, however there are problems in countries such as Nigeria where the government is very suspicious of the vaccination.
