About this work

Description

Transmission electron micrograph showing superficial sclera/episclera interface. Two small blood vessels can be seen in transverse section both of which contain red blood cells in their lumina. The basement membranes can clearly be seen beneath the endothelial cells. A large amount of cell death is occurring between the blood vessels. The red blood cell in the left hand blood vessel is approximately 2.3nm in diameter.
