About this work

Description

Plant with fern-like leaves and umbells of small white flowers. Oil from the seeds used in flavouring bread, cakes, biscuits, cheese and sauerkraute, and in producing the liquer, Kummel. Also used in perfumes. The root is eaten as a vegetable and the leaves added to salads. Used in creams and ointments to kill parasites.
