The American edition was prepared under the supervision of J. C. Warren, who improved the references to the plates, revised in part the descriptions of the great arteries, and added the general description of the arteries (p. [9]-18) The "division of the arteries" was derived from Bichat. Cf. "Advertisement," signed: John C. Warren
Josiah F. Flagg is named as proprietor in the Massachusetts District copyright statement (slip mounted on verso of title page) Flagg engraved the plates on wood after the steel engravings of the London edition, which was first published in1808 under title: Anatomical plates of the arteries of the human body ... with a concise explanation. It appeared in 1811 under the present title. The plates were reduced copies of selected plates from the Icones anatomicae of Haller
