An earlier version of this print from 1680 is concerned with the war between the English and the Dutch. A Dutchman holds a pot ready for the English patient to vomit in. In this version, however, no one holds a pot and "the city view through a window at the right [has been substituted] for the view of a ship. In one state the clyster held by the apothecary is labelled 'Dr. B. Franklin' and the city is labelled 'Philadelphie'" (Helfand, op. cit. note 1).
