Description

Early 18th century newspaper cutting advertising a booklet of instructions on how to cure gleet (gonorrhoea) and venereal distemper (sexually transmitted disease) in a quick and simple manner and getting rid of any lingering traces of previous venereal infections. Lurid descriptions are given of "a foul urine" as one of the symptoms. Treatises were also available "on the hainous vice of self-defilement" and "defileing the marriage bed".
