Description

Political cartoon from the News Chronicle, no. 30,958, dated Tuesday, August 7, 1945. It shows Aneurin "Nye" Bevan walking down Harley Street, London, into an ambush laid by waiting surgeons, the British National Health Service being in the process of being set up. Main headline on the reverse (fragment) is of the atomic bomb being dropped on Hiroshima.
